Al attended Louisburg Col- lege where he studied Radio and Television Production. He later worked as a disk jockey and as a produc- tion manager for a radio sta- tion in Duplin County.
Follow- ing his career in radio, Al moved back to Raleigh and worked for the Department of Direct and Centralized Mail Services at N.C. State University. During his youth, Al became a mem- ber of West Raleigh Presbyte- rian Church. He was active in the Youth Group, the College Group and the Young Adult Singles Group. Al is preceded in death by his father, B.A.
Parker Jr. He is survived by his Moth- er, Peggy Morrison Parker of Raleigh, Brothers; William Neill Parker and his wife Lisa of Knightdale, NC and Robert Steven Parker of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Also surviving are four nieces; Tara Carr Parker and Courtney Neill Parker, both of Knightdale; Morgan Kay Parker and Ra- chel Stephanie Parker, both of Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral ser- vices will be held at West Raleigh Presby- terian Church on January 19 at A family grave- side service will be held one hour prior to the memorial service at Montlawn Memorial Park located at 2911 South Wilmington Street. Bertie Alric Parker III NOVEMBER 18, 1955 JANUARY 9, 2014 APEX Martha Bolick Dixon Hatch, 69, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 12, 2014 sur- rounded by her family. She was born May 31, 1944 to Charles Roy and Cletus Dixon. Martha graduated from Sanford Central High School and graduated from the Wom- College of She married her high school sweetheart, Char- lie Hatch on June 16, 1963 and they were blessed to cel- ebrate their 50th anniversary this past June surrounded by friends and family. Together, they made a life time of memo- ries touching lives and reach- ing out to others. The primary work and joy of her life was raising her two daughters and later enjoying the love of her six granddaugh- ters.
First United Methodist Church of Cary was the foun- dation of her strong faith for over 40 years and very impor- tant in her life. She taught kindergarten at the church pre- school for years and later was employed as the cial secretary. Martha gave of her talents in many ways. She most enjoyed sharing her love of music by singing in the FUMC chancel choir, the Cha- pel Singer Choir and playing in the hand bell choir. She loved the fellowship of her beloved Rebecca Circle group.
Martha was awarded a life member- ship by the United Methodist Women. She participated in many Bible studies through the years and was still active in the Sharing Table Bible Study group which brought her so much joy. She was also active in the Stephen Ministry at her church. During her youth, she and Charlie were active in the United Methodist Youth Program, serving as leaders and mentors to many. Martha enjoyed her summer mission trips with the youth groups to repair homes with the Appala- chian Service Project organiza- tion.
More recently, Martha enjoyed giving of herself by knitting prayer shawls for oth- ers through the church. Martha worked side by side with her husband, Charlie dur- ing his Rotary Club obliga- tions. She was a Paul Harris Fellow as well as an honorary member of the Cary Kildaire Rotary Club. Martha made a life time of giving to oth- ers. Her radiant smile and warm hugs made a dif- ference in so many lives.
She was a constant source of sup- port and encouragement to her husband, daughters, and granddaughters. May her love of life and her joy in giving as well as her Christian dedica- tion live on in the hearts of those that loved her. Martha is survived by her beloved husband, of 50 years, Charlie Hatch, as well as two daughters: Marti Hatch (Mi- chael Binger) of Gastonia and Mollie Hatch Moore (James Moore)of Kernersville, NC. Her precious granddaughters brought her so much joy. Her last 21 years were spent enjoy- ing the activi- ties and supporting them in all their ventures.
Etta Grace, Marcie, Amanda Palmer, Mag- gie, Charlie Elizabeth and Gracie will miss her more than words can say. Martha is also survived by her dear sisters, Billie Jernigan of Sanford and Judy Cutts of Raleigh. In ad- dition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Charles Dixon. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at at First Unit- ed Methodist Church in Cary. A reception will immediately follow in the fellowship hall.

Wanna was born Oc- tober 7, 1925 in Johnston County to the late William G. Creech and Rosetta Woodard Creech.
She worked in the NC General Assembly in the Senate-Physical Research for 20 years. As long as her health permitted, she was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Wanna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends. kind heart and gen- erous spirit made his years working at the Cary Family YMCA some of the happiest of his life. His compassion was further demonstrated through his missionary trip to Jamaica and most of all through his dedicated love for his little sis- ter, Erin. He was a unique and gifted young man who could always brighten the room with his smile and his charm. A North Carolina State University alumnus whose intelligence and love of science took cen- ter stage in his life, potential was unlimited.
He enjoyed and he was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steel- ers fan, he loved soccer, he loved music, he loved to make people laugh, and he loved his friends and fam- ily. The world was brighter for his presence, and the light he brought to all of our lives will never extin- guish. This obitu- ary was written far too soon, as David had so much more to give. The con- tributions he made to the lives of all those who knew him, the lessons he taught us about love and respect and perseverance, and the joy he spread wherever he went, he did it all in a life that had only just begun. The incredible he has had on all of our lives and the wonderful memories we carry will keep spirit alive forever.

PEACE, Mama, Nanny, Baldie and Jason SANFORD Dr. Stuart Wynn Gibbs, 94, formerly of Gastonia, died January 14, 2014, at Parkview i Center, Sanford, NC, with family by his side.
He was born August 19, 1919, in Sautee, GA, to the late Reverend Dr. Charles Mitch- ell Gibbs and Car- son Gibbs. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Sara Bowen Gibbs; a sister Margaret Gibbs Lob of Metarie, LA; and a brother The Reverend Charles Mitchell Gibbs, Jr. of Cornelia, GA. Dr.
Gibbs was raised in Erwin, NC, and graduated from Erwin High School and Blue Ridge School for Boys in Asheville. He was a 1941 grad- uate of Davidson College and received his medical degree from Wake Forest Bowman Gray School of Medicine in 1944. He served an internship at Watts Hospital, Durham, and his radiology residency at Bowman Gray. Dr. Gibbs practiced radiol- ogy in Gastonia for 31 years re- tiring in1985; he had previous- ly practiced in Rocky Mount and in the US Army at Fort Gordon, GA.
He was a former chief of staff of Gaston Memo- rial Hospital, a past president of the Gaston County Medical Society and a past president of the NC Radiological Society. He remained active and sup- portive of his community in re- tirement. A longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, Gastonia, he served as an Elder and choir member. Dr. Gibbs is survived by his children, Ann Blatzer and hus- band Bruce of Columbus, OH; Gail Parker and husband Byron of Laurens, SC; Penny Shields and husband Paul of Sanford; and Wynn Gibbs, and wife Cindy of Greenville, SC.
He was blessed with eleven grand- children: Leah Blatzer and Julia Blatzer of Richmond, VA; Shannon Medlin and hus- band Mark of Gilbert, SC; Clay Parker of Hopkins, SC; Stu- art Parker and wife Kathryn of Bristol, TN; Dan Shields and wife Kathryn of Raleigh; Frank Shields and Lisa Duke of Asheville; Stu- art Shields of Sanford; Miller Wofford, Mary Wynn Gibbs, Stuart Gibbs III of Greenville, SC; and six great-grandchil- dren. Also surviving are a sister Tilda Herring of Clin- ton; a sister-in-law Ann Gibbs Tennant of Alcolu, SC; and a brother-in-law David S. Clay and wife Anne of Salisbury.
