She was born inGalax on Oct. 2, 1979. She is preceded in death by her mother, LisaLaRue Utt.
She is survived byher husband, Gary Dunn of the home; son, Gary Dunn Jr. and wife,Ashley, of Max Meadows; daughter Lindsey Dunn of Speedwell; father,Greg Utt of Hillsville; brother, Dillon Utt of Baywood; sisters ToryWaller of Pembroke and Kelsey Utt of Galax; grandchildren, KaizleDunn, Abigal Grose and Gavin Grose; aunt, Sherry Finster ofSalisbury, North Carolina; uncle, Coby LaRue of Sparta, NorthCarolina; nieces, Madison, Savannah and Natalie; and by two specialpeople, Denise Waller and Michael Coverdale.
Services will beheld at a later date.

Galyean was born inSurry County, North Carolina, on Feb. 3, 1932, to Iveris and GraceSmith Galyean. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in deathby his wife Ruby Triplett Galyean; sister Wilma Galyean Walker andbrother Okie Galyean.
He is survived by ason and daughter-in-law Dan and Pam Galyean of Knoxville, Tennessee;sister Verna Lowe of Low Gap, North Carolina; and several nieces andnephews.
Burial was at theMonta Vista Cemetery.
Linda Haynes Phipps
Linda Haynes Phipps,a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024,at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
She was born onMarch 3, 1944, in Saltville to the late Jack and Susie OlingerHaynes. She was a woman of strong faith and a long-time member ofGrace Presbyterian Church. On Dec. 31, 1962, she married the love ofher life, Wade Phipps. Together, they shared 62 wonderful years ofmarriage, filled with love and cherished memories. They always madetheir anniversary special, often celebrating in Gatlinburg, and had arelationship many admired. She worked many years as a hairdresser,and was a dedicated wife and homemaker. Phipps always kept a garden,and enjoyed canning foods for everyone to enjoy. Above all her familywas her world, and she especially cherished her grandchildren. Herlove for cooking made family gatherings and holidays truly special,with meals that brought everyone together. The yearly familyvacations, holidays spent together, and special occasions will alwaysbe cherished. Her memory will live on through the love she gave toher family, especially her grandchildren, and in the hearts of allwho knew her.
In addition to herparents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, EleanorHolmes and Tammy Carter; and two brothers, Herbie and Tim Haynes.
Survivors includeher husband of 62 years, Wade Phipps; two sons, Phillip "Bo”Phipps and wife, Lisa, of Abingdon and Sam Phipps and fiancé Tammyof Dispuntante, Virginia; grandchildren Hunter Phipps of Charlotte,North Carolina, and Jacob Phipps and fiancé Danielle of Marion;sister, Teresa Dickens of Glade Spring; Misty Phipps, the mother ofher grandchildren; special pet, Itsy; special friend, Darlene Duncanof Glade Spring; and several special nieces and nephews.
Funeral serviceswill be conducted at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, at Henderson FuneralHome with the Revs. Darlene Litton and Barry Loupe officiating. Thefamily will be receiving friends from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to theservice. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, atMount Rose Cemetery.

Sammy Edward Turley,Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather andbrother, died Oct. 1, 2024, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was born on April28, 1951, in Smyth County to the late Roy and Dorothy Gullion Turley.He was a man full of love and laughter, always ready to share a jokeor tease just to see a smile on someone’s face. Turley had a knackfor lightening the mood and bringing joy to those around him. Turleyproudly served his country in the United States Army, where he waspart of the honor guard- a duty he held with pride and respect. Inhis free time, he enjoyed watching football games, racing, and mostimportantly spending time with his family. He leaves behind a legacyof love, laughter, and cherished memories. Sammy will be deeplymissed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure ofknowing him. His spirit and humor will live on in the hearts of thosewho loved him.
In addition to hisparents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Jerry LeeTurley.

A graveside servicewill be conducted at noon on Saturday, Oct. 5, at New Zion ChurchCemetery with the Rev. Greg Carrico officiating. There will bemilitary rites rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard and theV.F.W. Post 4667. The family will be receiving friends from 5 until 7p.m. Friday evening at Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville.
