What do you get when you mix shaving cream with corn starch?

You get a Crunch Foam Sensory Dough {a mold-able play-with-me-NOW dough} that has a unique soft yet crunchy texture.

My kiddos absolutely loved this dough and had a blast experimenting with different consistencies. Not to mention this is one of the quickest and cheapest doughs you could ever make! I think I spent maybe $2-3 on this!!

Did I mention that this is really really messy?…

So maybe play with this outside…or in the tub? I am still cleaning this out of our dining room that has magically become the kids messy play room…cornstarch it likes to get on everything.

That’s it. Nothing extensive or complicated. Just two simple items that most of you probably already have at home!

This is where the fun comes in. There really isn’t any to do. Just dump and play. Experiment with how much of each ingredient is needed to get different consistencies. Let your kids get their hands messy and mix it up for themselves!

The cornstarch will get less messy as more shaving cream is added in, but be careful, too much shaving cream and you will get a foamy soup! For us one 16oz container of cornstarch and one regular sized can of shaving cream gave us the mold-able yet crunch-able texture of sensory dough we were looking for.

We had way too much fun with how mold-able yet crumbly this dough was. We used a variety of play dough toys, cookie cutters, scoops and spoons…and even stamps!

Livia even brought out her Alphabet Stamps to work work on her sight words like we had done with our Stamp-n-Spell Activity {follow link for free sight word printable cards}.

As the shaving cream starts to dry the sensory dough turns back into a more sandy texture while not being as clingy and needy as it was in the cornstarch form.

There is so much learning potential to be had with this dough. I think the next time that we give it a try I will be making up some science experiment sheets!
